Burger King got its first back-to-back win in the tournament after dismantling Barako Bull, 102-86, in the KFC-Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup Friday night at the Araneta Coliseum. Ronjay Buenafe fired a team-high 17 points, including a 3-of-5 shooting from the three-point zone, to power the Whoppers to their third win in eight games and get back in the hunt for a better spot in the next round. Carlo Sharma added 14 markers for coach Yeng Guiao.

Lebanese basketball officials revealed that CJ Giles, who was removed from the Smart Gilas Pilipinas National Team, signed a hefty contract with a club team in Lebanon. The 6-foot-11 Giles reportedly hooked up with Sporting Al-Riyadi Beirut, a Lebanese ballclub defeated by Smart Gilas in the Fiba-Asia Champions Cup held in Jakarta early this year. It was no secret that Lebanon wanted the former LA Laker badly as Lebanese basketball officials tried to recruit him along with Gilas co-captain Mark Barroc  

CRAWLEY Town were given a reminder of just what it takes to be in the play-off positions as they were comprehensively outclassed by a strong Mansfield side. The Reds slumped to their third home defeat of the season after goals from Jake Speight and Paul Heckingbottom, but, such was the dominance of the Stags' performance, the margin could easily have been bigger. Simon Rayner produced a fine save to deny Kyle Perry who was through on goal, while after the break his replacement, Nick Jordan, did well t  

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) has decided to drop American import CJ Giles from the Smart-Gilas lineup after concluding that the former US college star has become a liability.  

Chris Coghlan and Andrew Bailey both agreed to change, then quickly got their chance in the majors.
